The COVID-19 pandemic was tough on everyone, including our dragon boats.

Our operations crew did a wonderful job watching over the boats while they weren’t in use this past year. Once the season began, they made a few needed repairs to the steering arm and canvas covers that protect the boats.

Several areas of the canvas had worn thin, and the threads were deteriorating at the seams in several places. Louise Kirk and Kathy Heron took the covers for an estimate to Annapolis Custom Yacht Canvas. They chatted with owners Dan Oldale and Donna Milliman about the Club’s purpose in helping breast cancer and other cancer survivors mentally and physically through paddling.

A few weeks later, Kathy received a call with an incredibly generous proposal from Donna, who offered to replace every sewn area with Teflon thread and patch the worn areas — at no cost!

We gave them a poster of the Club as a token of our appreciation. We greatly appreciate their support of our mission by caring for our boats.

A big thank you to Annapolis Custom Yacht Canvas for their generosity!
