The Annapolis Dragon Boat Club has concluded on-water operations for the year. The year got off to a good start — with practices held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday practices. We added Wednesday morning practices throughout most of the season once the water warmed up. This year, we held the last evening paddle on September 30th and Saturday-only practices through November 12th, the latest that we have operated on the water due to the favorable weather conditions.
The Club participated in three races this year in Philadelphia, PA, Mays Landing, NJ, and Solomons Island, MD. Two teams were featured at the Solomons Island and Philadelphia races. Undeniably, one factor in all three races is that the spectators and organizers recognized the efforts and preparation of the Club. The hard work that we do throughout the season is paying off in raising the profile of the Club within the sport of dragon boat.
We offered practices focused on technique specifics, race preparation, and endurance efforts to prepare and repair our bodies. Plus, some days, we just had the exuberance and fun that is dragon boating. Nothing can beat the feeling of a long-pull paddle or a swift, competitive effort on the water.
